Shawn Cowles has traveled the world as a treasure hunter, technical diver, and public speaker.

He worked for the Fisher organization on Florida’s 1622 fleet shipwrecks, Atocha and Santa Margarita, where he recovered amazing lost treasures and shared their stories with the world. As an independent consultant and diver, Shawn has been involved with prominent land find & shipwreck projects in North America, South America, and the Pacific ocean, some, like Guam’s Nuestra Senora del Pilar, in waters up to 350’ deep, using mixed gas and closed circuit technology.

In addition to his practical and technical skills, Shawn is a fearless leader, troubleshooter and problem solver possessing a true adventurer’s spirit. Where some see obstacles, Shawn recognizes and seizes opportunities for growth, success, and adventure.

“Our team was heading toward Key West from working on the Santa Margarita shipwreck site, towing a small “tender” boat behind our salvage vessel, when a violent thunder and lightning storm blew in. In the driving rain and high seas, Shawn grabbed a flashlight, dove overboard, swam to and boarded the wildly bucking tender boat, and separated it from the salvage boat, preventing its destruction. – Carol Tedesco”
