What is Gamel Gold?

If you didn’t already know, after I wrapped Treasure Quest, season 3, my amazing wife, @adelepng, and I turned our home into a vacation rental and started out on a year-long motorcycle trip through the Americas.

Along the way, we are searching for interesting historical stories, particularly those that pertain to hidden or lost treasure. Today we met with Gene Zesch. Gene is a renowned artist who lives in the charming town of Mason, Texas.

He and his wife live in the Gamel House, once owned by Cattle Barron and landowner, John Gamel

Local legend has it that in 1879 Gamel’s wife stashed a large portion of his gold in or around the house but died before she was able to tell him where she hid it. As of today, the gold remains undiscovered.
